Open Moto X
Open Moto X is a new electric motocycle race team. We are radically open in everything we do; not just the hardware and the software that power the bike but also in the way we operate the project.
Our commitment to being open extends to the way we compete. We have helped potential rivals find sponsors and we hope that the OMX project will fork in the future so we have more and better competitors. We hope that some of these competitors inherit our open philosophy. We'd like to encourage anyone interested in electric motorcycles and racing futures to help develop the first version of the Open Moto X motorcycle. We need your help. There are important things that need doing.
The initial objective is to have a team ready for the Southern European Series of TTxGP races in 2011. If you want to set up a team based on a similar approach or if you want to use our designs or our ideas for build to then feel free to adapt what we are doing here to your own purposes.
We have yet to choose a hardware license - any advice or suggestions on which one is best suited to our objectives would be much appreciated.
Everything we do is recorded on the Open Moto X wiki. We need your help now! Come and help build something open, fast and global.
Two things you can do today that will help Open Moto X:
1) Listen to the introduction to Open Moto X on Slideshare.
2) Vote for Open Moto X at Mozilla's Drumbeat.org
(N.B: the picture that illustrates this project is by Dan Anderson. Dan's design has some ideas that we like but we need to build our engineering team and write a open design brief before inviting designers to sketch the look and feel of the OMX bike).
