With a simple prism viewer you can enjoy 3-D movies and stills interactively on the iPad and other tablet devices.

The drawback - you have to keep a fixed viewing distance. To ensure this, I designed a HDF puzzlesque stand to keep viewing device and iPad in optimal position.

In the 1980ies a simple, but very effective method was invented to present 3-D content in true colors, but on printed media as well as normal monitors.

The over/under method also known as KMQ (the last name initials of the inventors) is still around and the KMQ SSG1b prism stereo viewing device is still in production and known to 3-D enthusiasts.

I've simply combined the cheap device with the mighty iPad (but other tablets capable of portrait mode UI will do as well)
