Spark HK1
Spark HK1 is an open source space shuttle
(of course it won't look like in the picture :P but until we have the designs that will do)
This project is under development and probably will be for another some .. years :). It will probably won't be something that you build in your yard with your kids, but rather a people's effort to reach the stars that anyone can contribute to, no need to work for a governmental institution, no need to study all your life to join us, everybody will contribute with what they can, when they can and multiplied with our number we will prevail!
This project will have 2 main objectives :
- sustain human life on board
- be able to travel into space
All ideas are welcome in the feedback zone, and as we gather them we will vote and choose the best one to go. So let's start thinking and then building!
1. Life sustaining in outer space
So let's analyze the situation like this : How would you sustain life in normal condition in a glass sphere?
We will need oxygen first than water .. what next? How are we going to produce them?
2. Shuttle propulsion
So how do space "things" travel in space! Let's analyze how mobility is achieved and start brainstorming from there!
seeing as how this was
seeing as how this was created yesterday i will start and hopefully this thing will take off from there! Sustaining life in space is not impossable just right now its not something we are looking into as deeply as one may think.. yet its not that hard to do. you need some sort of "eco dome" and in this unit you need some way for the "life" weather it be trees or other plants/animals to be sustained. We can add in say a tree with idk... probly a 100 gallon + drum of water for you and the tree... for its complete life expecency. you would also need soil and a way to monitor its root growth seeing as how if it grew outside the hull of the ship there would be some issues. In micro gravity to no gravity at all with artificial light or say "star" light i think the plant would grow past its typical height. Once the tree grows and produces seeds/fruit we could replant and gain more from the plant.
for now all i can think of growing plants in the ship would create an almost infinite amount of oxygen for the crew on board the ship.
Powering the lights via solar cells would also help sustain growth at all hours... for now thats all i got!

I think the roots will go all
I think the roots will go all over the place, same for branches because of lack of gravity, also could we ditch the soil? make a mix of minerals and water just to feed the roots, maybe consider water plants .. growing in the drinkable water? there are a lot of possibilities, also maybe add some other small herbivore mammals that can provide meat and milk
